My name is Jonathan Smith (Yes, I know it's pretty generic)

In 2015 I got my first drone. Drones give us an incredible opportunity to see the world from a different perspective. After I had the drone for a few weeks I started to have this idea for a drone portrait where a model would be laying in a white dress surrounded by water.

For a variety of reasons, one of which being the size / loudness of my first drone being intimidating to put directly over models heads, I didn't pursue the idea until August 2017. After the first photo I was hooked on the idea and turned it into a personal project to do as a portrait series.

I called it Air Portraits because it sounds like a better name than drone portraits or aerial portraits. Yes I realize that in a hashtag it looks like airport raits, which I have no idea what that would mean.
